un.conscious is an exploration of the space that exists between the conscious and the unconscious: that territory where learned structures mix with each person's desires. Focused on unconscious processes, un.conscious proposes a neurological journey through a mind full of desires, memories and drives that consciousness rejects on the grounds of social or moral norms.
The piece highlights the value of those situations and experiences that let thought flow without censoring ideas. Dreams and altered states of consciousness become spaces in which the usual mechanisms of control become less rigid, allowing images, associations and desires to emerge more freely.
Between reinterpreted nocturnal images and altered states of consciousness, memories and sensations surface without necessarily resolving into a coherent narrative, following instead the associative logic of an inner state in which different levels of experience begin to overlap.
Rather than attempting to represent the unconscious as something that can be fully revealed or decoded, un.conscious invites you to experience a slight disconnection from external reality and an immersion in a mental space moving between memory, desire, impulse and imagination.

Jana Tox and Bruno Tripodi are a Valencia-based duo of artists and creative technologists whose practice focuses on interactive and immersive environments. Both specialise in TouchDesigner, using real-time technologies not simply as production tools, but as materials through which spaces, images and audience behaviour can become part of the same system.
