Collection
The MAM – Media Art Museum collection traces the evolution of Media Art through artworks, artists and practices that reflect the transformation of digital technologies and their relationship with artistic creation.
The historical core of the collection originates from the Shockart.net archive, active since 1999 and one of the earliest Italian projects dedicated to Web Art, and has developed through more than twenty-five years of activities, collaborations and projects with international artists and organisations.
The collection includes Net Art, audiovisual works, installations, interactive projects and other forms of digital art, and continues to grow through new works, productions and collaborations.
It is not simply an archive of the history of Media Art, but an evolving collection that documents its past while following the ongoing transformation of contemporary artistic practices.
