Year: 2026
Medium: Unreal Engine
Architecture of Presence explores immersive media as a form of spatial extension, where virtual architecture expands beyond the physical boundaries of the exhibition space. Digital structures unfold across the surrounding environment, transforming walls, surfaces and perspectives into elements of a continuously evolving architecture.
Through movement, shifting scale, reflections and changing points of view, the work creates a spatial experience in constant transformation. Forms appear to emerge, expand, dissolve and reorganize, challenging the perception of depth, distance and orientation. The architecture is no longer understood as a fixed structure, but as a fluid and unstable environment shaped by light, image and movement.
The work investigates the relationship between physical and virtual space, questioning where one ends and the other begins. As digital elements extend beyond the apparent limits of the room, the viewer is placed inside a space that exists simultaneously as a physical environment and as a constructed visual dimension.
Architecture of Presence ultimately approaches immersion not simply as an image surrounding the viewer, but as a way of altering the perception of space itself. The work invites the audience to inhabit an architecture that is temporary, mutable and intangible, experienced through presence rather than observed from a distance.

Author
- Sergey Prokofyev is an architect and filmmaker based in Berlin. With a background in both fields, his practice explores new approaches to immersive storytelling and the relationship between architecture, moving image and digital space.
His projects span architectural design and immersive cinema, creating spatial experiences that engage with perception and emerging technologies. Through the integration of sound, virtual space and movement, he investigates how immersive environments can expand the relationship between individuals and the spaces they inhabit, moving beyond the boundaries...
